ALBUM REVIEW
"BEERBONGS & BENTELYS"
BY POST MALONE

"The album is something that will definitely reach the charts, and maybe even break records."
9/10
Beerbongs and Bentleys by Post Malone is his newest album. Its release date, the 27th of April, was a long awaited date by millions of very patient fans. After his previous album, Post went dry with music, but had promised us fans this album after leaking the name ‘Beerbongs and Bentley’s’ way back in 2016, with a due date of 2017.
Even though this due date was promised by Post Malone himself, Beerbongs and Bentley’s was delayed time and time again.
As April approached, the album was finally given an official release date which myself and his fan base were extremely excited for. After a much-anticipated wait for the album, getting to finally listen to new music from Post was amazing.
The album consists of various moods and styles, some of which have a very energetic happy upscale beat, whilst others have a sad tone, and slower beat to them. After giving the album a very thorough listen, I personally believe it was worth the well anticipated wait.
Ranging from various styles with multiple features from various current artists of today’s industry, I believe this is Post Malone’s best piece of work and easily his best album. One song that particularly stood out to me within this album was ‘Candy Paint’, with a really steady beat and absolutely perfect flow. This song is definitely an all time favourite for me, and will remain in the top of my list for a long time to come.
Despite the fact I absolutely love this album, everything always has a negative side. I believe some of the songs in the album were a bit short compared to other tracks Post has released. Although the songs are amazing and were worth the wait, I personally think that a lot of the songs were a bit too short. Tracks like “Psycho”, which features artist Ty Dolla $ign, was a single released to hype the album back in 2017, felt like quite a short piece which made me believe it was rushed and pushed out to the keep the hype of the album on its peak.
There were a few feature artists on this album, one of them being newly popular rapper “21 Savage” in the track “Rockstar”. This song was released in mid-2017 and was heard across many radio stations globally. As much as I enjoy the song, I think personally think the highlight of this song was 21 Savage’s part. His flow and lyrics is the reason this track is easily up in my personal top 10 favourite songs of all time.
Nicki Minaj also features in this album in the song “Ball For Me”. Nicki Minaj is an artist which I’m sure most of our society has heard of today. As popular as this artist is and how relevant she is to today’s culture, I strongly believe her part feels out of place on this track. I think she does not suit the style of this music and a better feature artist could have made this track so much better. Although the song wasn’t awful, I definitely won’t be listening to it as much as the other songs.
Multiple tracks in this album have taken my interest, which for me is something quite unusual as I have a very particular and compressed taste in music. Tracks such as “Candy Paint”, “Zack and Codeine”, and “Takin’ Shots” have taken over my playlists and will definitely not get old anytime soon. The wait for the album felt like a lifetime, but as they say, perfection takes time. This is close to, if not my favourite album release of all time. The album will easily hold a place in my heart and playlists for years to come.
I’d personally rate this album a 9/10, the 1 being lost because of shorter tracks and the exception of 1-2 rushed tracks. Other than this, the album is something that will definitely reach the charts, and maybe even break records.
