THE SCRIPT TO SUE JAMES
ARTHUR OVER SONG
SIMILARITIES
By Claire Buchanan
24TH May 2018

Popular band The Script have said that they are suing 2012 X Factor winner James Arthur for copyright reasons.
The group confirmed this after stating that his single “Say You Won’t Let Go” sounds incredibly familiar to The Script’s own 2008 song, “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved”, which was released 8 years before Arthur’s single.
As of yet, James Arthur or any of his team haven’t made a statement.
It’s confirmed that The Script have hired the lawyer who worked on the case which involved Marvin Gaye and Robin Thicke, which turned out to be successful.
When speaking to Billboard, The Script’s lawyer Richard Busch said:
“It wasn’t until the release of Say You Won’t Let Go that he achieved worldwide success”.
When talking to The Sun, James Arthur spoke about the issue between the songs, stating:
“It’s 2017, there’s only seven notes in music”.
Do you think this is a fair accusation? Let us know below!
