The 24th of March 2018 would forever be known as a day that would be set to change the world forever. One twelve year-old boy from a small town in Illinois, innocently singing his small heart out in his local Walmart, unknowing of the mayhem that was yet to come his way. Join Echo Music, through a rollercoaster timeline of the most talked about name in the country genre, Mason Ramsey, also known as the “Walmart Kid”.

THE INITIAL VIDEO
The iconic video we all know and love first appeared on the internet not long after it was performed, on the 26th of March, on a YouTube account named ViralHog. The video was filmed in a remote town named Harrisburg in the state of Illinois. Mason can be seen in the video performing the song “Lovesick Blues” from popular country singer Hank Williams. Dressed up in a white shirt, jeans, and cowboy boots, it is clear that Mason is serious about his calling.

THE TWEET
Even though the video uploaded to ViralHog gained somewhat moderate attention, it wasn’t until Twitter user @dumbassvegan founded the video, and decided to post it to Twitter with the following caption:
“Me: which aisle can I find lightbulbs?
Walmart employee: “.

Even though the tweet was posted as a light-hearted joke, intended to be noticed by the user’s followers and friends, it wasn’t long until the tweet unexpectedly blew up reached every corner of Twitter possible. After being shared by thousands of Twitter users, it was only natural for people to begin to make jokes using the video. However, these jokes were not to make fun of the talented country singer, they were made with the purpose of getting him more known and noticed around the world. AFTERMATH
Due to the overwhelming success of the Tweet, the original song Mason covered gained a 2,452% increase of streams on Spotify, further proving the global phenomenon created by the young singer. Also, as expected by many Twitter users, Mason appeared and performed on The Ellen Show, and after the video was uploaded to YouTube on the 10th of April, it became the top trending video on the site the very next day.
To make this day even more special, Mason performed an exclusive concert outside of the original Walmart store he initially performed in, evidently showing that he was born to be a performer and entertainer.
To top off the TV appearances and performances, Mason surprised the attendees of the highly popular music festival Coachella with a surprise appearance and performance. The response he received after appearing on the massive stage solidified the fact that he was a name that was not soon to be forgotten. Mason had went from being an unknown, ordinary kid, to performing on national television and performing on one of the most popular stages in the world in less than a month.

DEBUT SINGLE
After many hints from the man himself on Twitter, Mason finally announced on the 26th of April that he would be releasing his first ever single titled “Famous”, the following day. The surprise provoked an outstanding response from his large fanbase on Twitter, and it wasn’t long until they received original music from the boy they had brought to fame. The single obtained a great amount of praise, and was even advertised on its own billboard in New York’s Times Square.
Unsurprisingly, the single performed well in the charts, reaching number 1 on the iTunes country charts on the 30th of April, and also appeared on Spotify’s top 50 playlist. THE FUTURE FOR MASON
As of now, Mason seems to be taking a small break and staying relatively quiet on his social medias. After the incredibly busy month Mason had, it is expected for him to take some time to process the massive and permeant change to his life.
It is unknown what is next for the young singer, however, many hope that this is only the start of a long and successful career, and maybe one day he will be able to follow in the footsteps of his idol, Hank Williams.
